Associate Professor
Dr Sim Sze Kiat

Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UNIMAS

Topic: The Role of tDCS in neuromodulation and Neuroplasticity

Associate Professor Dr Sim Sze Kiat is a qualified Nutritionist and Neurosurgeon. He has the clinical experience of working in 6 different hospitals in 5 different states in Malaysia. He founded the Neurosurgery and Neuro Wellness Clinic at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, and provides the first non-invasive neuromodulation tDCS treatment in Sarawak. His research interests include nutrition and ageing, neurotrauma, and post-traumatic neurocognitive training. He is very passionate in sharing his professional knowledge with the medical students, and has introduced the Team-Based Self-Directed Learning and Scenario-Based Case Learning approaches in the teaching of undergraduate surgery. Associate Professor Dr Sim Sze Kiat has been invited as guest speaker in various seminars and public health talks. He is the Organising Chairman for the UNIMAS Neuroscience Symposium, a yearly national event to share the knowledge in the field or Neuroscience and Neurosurgery.

Dr. Robert Rhoton, CEO of Arizona Trauma Institute possesses a rich history of experience in the mental health field. Dr. Rhoton has supervised multiple outpatient clinics, juvenile justice programs, and intensive outpatient substance abuse programs for adolescents, day treatment programs for children and youth, adult offender programs, and child and family therapeutic services, and family trauma. Dr. Rhoton is a Diplomat of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress. Dr. Rhoton is the past president of the Arizona Trauma Therapy Network (2010 through 2012). Dr. Rhoton has collaborated with numerous agencies in Arizona fine-tuning their understanding of trauma and the impact of developmental trauma on the individual and family. Dr. Rhoton is the founder and CEO of Arizona Trauma Institute, which is a professional training and consultation company. Dr. Rhoton is also the CEO of the Trauma Institute International that certifies mental health professionals and organizations throughout the world on trauma sensitivity and treatment.

Maznah Ibrahim, an esteemed keynote speaker at the APNA Conference 2023, is a renowned author of transformative eBooks such as the "Saya TakNak Marah Anak Series 1 and Series 2," "Rebonding Techniques," "Hypnocipt Techniques for Children," and "Ngam Sibling Tips," benefiting over 1000 parents.
